Cursive Is Outdated?

First off, I am sorry for not having a post last Monday. We have been busy this week, and it got lost along the way. I also know this post is not on a normal day, but I figured a late post is better than no post at all! My dad shared this cartoon with me on Facebook, and I think this is a problem today.     I see so many posts, mostly on Facebook, about kids in school not learning cursive. I know one example was a kindergartner who wrote her name in cursive. Her teacher kept telling her to not write her name in cursive, but the

Minecraft Castles

Recently, August and I decided to buy this game called Minecraft. If you have never heard of it:   Minecraft is a sandbox video game originally created by Swedish programmer Markus "Notch" Persson and later developed and published by Mojang. The creative and building aspects of Minecraft enable players to build constructions out of textured cubes in a 3D procedurally generated world. This is the description put out by Wikipedia, and it is both accurate and confusing, at least to me. Basically, the player is set into a world of "cubes." During these first few weeks of January, we often hear—or find ourselves saying—things like "This year, I'm going to go to the gym every day!" or "I'm going to learn

My Jewelry Making Hobby

Today I have for you yet another piece of jewelry Hermana Martha helped me make. Even more than helping me with the clasp this time, which she did, Hermana Martha also helped me by giving me the wire with which to make this bracelet.  She also provided the pink tubing to go around the wire, and told me what length to cut it to make a nice bracelet. I chose to use some tiny little silver hearts, and Hermana Martha approved. Thanks again for the help on this new bracelet, Hermana! If you missed the past posts I have about some other jewelry I made, feel free to look at them  here and here .

Saturday Sweetly: Deep Dark Chocolate Cake

More Chocolate! I just can't seem to get off the theme. This week however, it is not fudge. This week I will be sharing one of the best homemade chocolate cake recipes in the world. Click to Enlarge We have had this recipe for what seems like forever. My Mom used to make this cake for her Dad, and it was one of his favorites when he would come to visit at our
