Saturday Sweetly: Vanilla Chip Chocolate Cookies

This recipe is a family favorite, along with most other chocolate recipes, but it is simple to make and tastes great, too!

Now don't get all confused and think this recipe has any white chocolate in it; it does not. The white chips are actually called, and taste like, vanilla chips. The only chocolate included in this recipe is the cocoa powder required in the dough mixture. Speaking of
cocoa powder, here are the ingredients you would need to make this recipe.

  • 2 cups flour
  • 2 cups sugar
  • 3/4 cup cocoa powder
  • 1 teaspoon baking soda
  • 2 sticks (1 cup) butter, melted
  • 2 eggs
  • 2 teaspoons vanilla extract
We usually nickname this recipe "the two recipe;" can you see why? As always, the first step to baking these cookies is to preheat the oven to 350º F. Then, do this:

Place the ever-present eggs, butter and vanilla extract in a separate bowl, and whisk them together well.

Now all that's left is one of two things. I usually say here to place this cookie dough in a 9x13 dish and bake for 20 minutes. And that is the same case here...or you can make it into perfect chewy cookies that are not bars. This requires you to measure by tablespoons of dough and place them on an ungreased cookie sheet. These only require an 8-9 minute cook time.
Just thought I would be a little more helpful by giving you the choice of which way to eat your cookies. In case you were wondering, yes, this would also work for the other cookie recipes I have shared with you previously. So, a nice simple vanilla chip chocolate cookie recipe, and a couple ways to cook it, too. Enjoy!

My best description of this cookie is, if you can imagine a brownie with vanilla morsels, then you have an idea of what this will taste like. Yum!

With Apologies to Robert Frost

I have a class for school called Speech. This is supposed to help me learn how to stand properly while speaking, pronounce words properly, and so on. The most recent section is on how to give meaning and feeling to a  poem when reading one out loud. My teacher, Mrs. Autrey, has been reciting poems to us as examples, and she uses a variety such as happy poems, sad poems, thoughtful and so on. One of them that caught my attention was a funny remake of the famous poem "Stopping by Woods on a Snowy Evening" by Robert Frost.   The original is one of my favorite poems, and I have always loved the other poetic works of Robert Frost. Here is the original poem: Stopping by Woods on a Snowy Evening By Robert Frost   Whose woods these are I think I know.    His house is in the village though;    He will not see me stopping here    To watch his woods fill up with snow.    My little horse must think it queer

Annual Church Picnic 2015

Sorry this post is coming out so late in the day; I am still new to a lot of features on Picasa and spent a lot of time playing with some features on it to make this video. This is just some of the pictures from a church picnic we had on Saturday. Monday Munchies: Peanut Butter Blossoms

Today's recipe has a little more work involved than some of my recipes I've shared, but the result is worth the effort. The ingredients for these cookies are as follows:
