Saturday Sweetly: Whipped Cream

Today's recipe is short and sweet-both figuratively and literally. It needs only two ingredients and 10 minutes of your time.

While there are only two ingredients, one of them can be expensive, so we only make this
whipped cream from the leftover heavy whipping cream from making another recipe using it. The two ingredients needed are:

  • Heavy whipping cream
  • sugar

There actually is no measurement involved in this recipe, either.  To start the recipe, you will need to refrigerate the bowl you will be mixing in, and the beater(s). This is so when you beat the cream, it does not get too hot from a warm bowl and cause the cream to break.

Then, after the bowl and beaters are refrigerated, take them out of the fridge and add the whipping cream to the  bowl. Add in a tablespoon of sugar and beat on high for 1 minute. Check to see if the cream is stiff (ours usually is not), then add in at least one more tablespoon of sugar and beat again for about 20 seconds. Keep adding sugar and beating until the heavy whipping cream is stiff.

Once the whipped cream is made, either use it immediately or put it in a resealable container to use at a later time. Don't wait too long, though; it is still dairy and will go bad! Also, don't leave it out too long or it will begin to melt and break apart.
So there you go, a nice simple recipe that maybe more expensive, but better tasting than, the store-bought stuff. Hope you try this easy recipe and enjoy it!

With Apologies to Robert Frost

I have a class for school called Speech. This is supposed to help me learn how to stand properly while speaking, pronounce words properly, and so on. The most recent section is on how to give meaning and feeling to a  poem when reading one out loud. My teacher, Mrs. Autrey, has been reciting poems to us as examples, and she uses a variety such as happy poems, sad poems, thoughtful and so on. One of them that caught my attention was a funny remake of the famous poem "Stopping by Woods on a Snowy Evening" by Robert Frost.   The original is one of my favorite poems, and I have always loved the other poetic works of Robert Frost. Here is the original poem: Stopping by Woods on a Snowy Evening By Robert Frost   Whose woods these are I think I know.    His house is in the village though;    He will not see me stopping here    To watch his woods fill up with snow.    My little horse must think it queer

Annual Church Picnic 2015

Sorry this post is coming out so late in the day; I am still new to a lot of features on Picasa and spent a lot of time playing with some features on it to make this video. This is just some of the pictures from a church picnic we had on Saturday. Monday Munchies: Peanut Butter Blossoms

Today's recipe has a little more work involved than some of my recipes I've shared, but the result is worth the effort. The ingredients for these cookies are as follows:
