Saturday Savory: Savory Corn Spoon Bread

Today I have a simple but delicious recipe that can be found on the back of some stuffing boxes. Click to enlarge We tried this recipe recently, and it was delicious despite its simple ingredients. So, with

The Boxer Dogs

The Boxer is a funny breed, They do not follow, but they lead. They chase the cats out of the yard, Then seek praise for working so hard. With joy they will jump, and run, and play; Then melt on the floor at the end of the day. They sleep with tongues out touching the floor, But jump up at the sound of the door. For food they'll beg and jump so high, You think they might just hit the sky! They have a look that instills fright; But their bark is worse than their bite. And when they wag their stubby tails, A smile will over frown prevail.

My Little Pony: Working My Magic

So last Monday I put up a post showing my photoshop mash-up of a dragon fighting an AT-AT. If you missed that post, click here. Well, I asked if anyone had a request for me to make a photoshop mash-up of their own imagination. My Mom responded with this: Ok, well, you said we could request a mash-up picture. So here's my request: a meadow with horses, but one of the horses has to be from "My Little Pony". Also, include a boxer dog somewhere in the pic and a palm tree, too! Ha! Have fun! :) Are you going to post my requested pic on this blog? Wow! I don't know where she came up with this, but I figured I would do my best. So, I searched around and found a good background to my photo. original photo It is a nice open meadow with plenty of room to add in the photoshops. Next, I decided in what pose to have the "My Little Pony" character. I used to watch a show on our TV called

Here There Be Dragons!

For the last three posts I have been talking about the graphic design major I am thinking of taking at college. I also gave you some examples of what I have done for the church Facebook page by making verse posts. Well, as you know, I am home-schooled, and when I get free-time during classes, sometimes I will mess around with the Photoshop program I use (Adobe Photoshop 5.5). I was eating lunch with August one day, and we started to talk about the Photoshop. He wanted me to do a mash-up photo; the idea he had was to have someone from medieval times with a sword fighting someone from Star Wars with a lightsaber. I never did actually do that, now that I think about it, but I started to try to find a way to do something similar. Eventually, this is what I came up with. You will need to click the image to see the details well. Click to enlarge to see details in this mash-up photo I made. I struggled at first to figure out how to fit images from wildly different games and movies into o

Saturday Sweetly: Whipped Cream

Today's recipe is short and sweet-both figuratively and literally. It needs only two ingredients and 10 minutes of your time. Click to enlarge While there are only two ingredients, one of them can be expensive, so we only make this

Looking to the Future

Well, I have been talking a lot about the ACT test, so I thought I would share with you my plans for the future. The reason I had to take the ACT test was so that I could apply to the Pensacola Christian College, or PCC. My mom and I spent an hour this morning on filling out one of application forms, the shorter of the two, apparently. On this form, it asked me what I plan to major in at the college. The answer I put was Graphic Design. The definition for graphic design given by PCC is this:

Saturday Standardized: My ACT experience

So, if you remember back to the previous blog post I made, I said I would be talking about the ACT test today. If you do not know what that is, an ACT is a standardized test that some high school students have to take to get into a specific college.   This was the case with me. There are four subjects tested in an ACT: Language, math, reading, and science. Each test has a time limit and a certain number of questions. Here is how it was for me: Language test-45 minutes-75 questions Math test    -60 minutes-60 questions Reading test -35 minutes-40 questions Science test -35 minutes-40 questions Now, Mom says I excel at Language (even though I do not like it) and I have always been

The Value of Voting

So, since my family has a home-school program, we have known where we want to go to college basically since we started school. Now, I am in 11th grade, and it is time to take the dreaded ACT test. UGH. Well, I am not that enthusiastic about it, as you can tell, but it is necessary for me to take the test in order to qualify to go to the college we all like, Pensacola Christian College. I will say more on the college and ACT this Saturday, the day I take it. However, I thought I would share with you the thoughts of one of the college students from PCC. The college has a blog, and any student (who asks) can put posts of their thoughts and opinions on practically any topic. I thought this topic (The Value of Voting) was fitting for the time, and it also gives you a view of my college-to-be. This post was by Aspen. Remember when we were young and we wanted to change the world? We believed that we could be superheroes or become President of the United States. But what happened to

Saturday Sweetly: Vanilla Chip Chocolate Cookies

This recipe is a family favorite, along with most other chocolate recipes, but it is simple to make and tastes great, too! Click to enlarge. Now don't get all confused and think this recipe has any white chocolate in it; it does not. The white chips are actually called, and taste like, vanilla chips. The only chocolate included in this recipe is the cocoa powder required in the dough mixture. Speaking of
