Monday Munchies: Strawberry Cheese Pie

Today I have a very sweet strawberry cream cheese pie recipe that one of the ladies from church shared with us. It is one of my favorite pie recipes, and is very simple to make.
Here is what you will need for the pie:

  • 8 ounces cool whip
  • 8 ounces cream cheese, softened
  • 1 pie crust (recipe below)
  • strawberries (prepared as stated below)
  • 1 tablespoon vanilla
  • 1 tablespoon sugar
First, the strawberries need to be prepared for the pie. This requires getting rid of the tops and slicing the berries, then letting them soak in sugar. This will break down the strawberries, creating a sweet glaze that will also be used in the recipe. Next, prepare the crust.
        Ingredients for crust
  • graham crackers (about 5 ounces or one sleeve), crushed
  • 1 stick margarine
  • 1/2 cup sugar
Now do this to make the crust:

Then, start on the pie.

Once all the strawberries are on top, let it sit in the fridge a few hours, then serve! A simple and easy recipe that requires no baking! I hope you try this recipe and enjoy it. Feel free to leave a comment below or on Facebook.

Another option for the strawberries instead of using sugar on them is to buy a bag of the strawberry glaze in your local produce department. Stir the glaze and sliced strawberries together then spread on top of cheese / cool whip mixture. This is how our friend from church makes this recipe. However, the glaze option makes for a very sweet pie!

Monday Meatloaf

So, on Saturday I gave you a simple baked potato recipe that goes great with a lot of dishes. One recipe that we tried it with was Alton's meatloaf recipe. Click the image to enlarge. There are so many types of meatloaf recipes out there, handed down from generations, that there is no "right way" to make a meatloaf. This is the recipe Alton Brown gave in his cooking guide in the roasting section. Here are the ingredients you will need:

With Apologies to Robert Frost

I have a class for school called Speech. This is supposed to help me learn how to stand properly while speaking, pronounce words properly, and so on. The most recent section is on how to give meaning and feeling to a  poem when reading one out loud. My teacher, Mrs. Autrey, has been reciting poems to us as examples, and she uses a variety such as happy poems, sad poems, thoughtful and so on. One of them that caught my attention was a funny remake of the famous poem "Stopping by Woods on a Snowy Evening" by Robert Frost.   The original is one of my favorite poems, and I have always loved the other poetic works of Robert Frost. Here is the original poem: Stopping by Woods on a Snowy Evening By Robert Frost   Whose woods these are I think I know.    His house is in the village though;    He will not see me stopping here    To watch his woods fill up with sn...

CBP Prohibited and Restricted Items

Recently we went to a Back to School festival near to us. At the event, they had a car show, snacks, booths for school children to get supplies , and also booths from the local police and border protection agencies. One of the booths, U.S. Customs and Border Protection, had a variety of unique items on display, including gem-covered beetles, vials of weevils in food products, leather from a sea turtle and elephant, and a bird claw. The officer on the right talked about all the items on display. Click to enlarge. What do all these items have in common? Well, we learned from one of the officers at the booth that these were all illegal items to try to bring over the border. Lets start with the gem-covered beetle. This is not the beetle the officer had on display, but simply an example. While this may look like a harmless product, it is actually quite cruel. That is because the beetle is captured while still alive and has the jewels pasted to its back before being put on sa...
