I have a new recipe for you! I know it has been a while since I shared a recipe, but I thought I'd share this one because I really like it. This is a recipe for Mississippi Mud Pie.

The reason this pie has this name is because the appearance is comparable to that of the Mississippi River. There's a nutty crust on the bottom, like the pebbles at the bottom of the river. Then there is a cheese filling, which symbolizes the silt and dirt that sometimes piles up on the riverbed. Next is the "mud," which is chocolate pudding, and last of all is the cool whip on top, which is the frothy peaks of the water rushing down-river.
Here is what you need to make this delicious dessert:
- 3/4 cups crushed vanilla wafers (approximately)
- 1/2 cup finely chopped pecans
- 2 tablespoons butter or margarine, melted
- 8 ounces cream cheese, softened
- 3/4 cup powdered sugar
- 1 cup thawed cool whip (reserve any extra for topping)
- 1 box (3.9 ounces) chocolate pudding mix
- 1 3/4 cups cold milk
To start the recipe, pre-heat your oven to 375ºF. Next, you will need to make the crust.

Just a couple tips for the recipe. First, make sure the crust is cool before you spoon in the cream cheese mixture. Second, don't use the mixer machine to stir the cool whip. This would cause the cool whip to "break" and not taste right. Last, wait to spread the extra cool whip on top until you are ready to serve, so the mixture is firm enough to hold it, and so it doesn't stick to the storage container's lid.
I hope you try this recipe and enjoy it. If you do, feel free to leave a comment below or on Facebook.
Definitely a yummy recipe, and not as overly sweet as one might expect! Keep bringing the yummy treats to the table and I'll keep helping do my part to make them disappear!
